Wallacea Treatment -

My photography is all about creating genuine moments between people. My work places a strong emphasis on excellent lighting, architecture, and luxury. When I received this brief it felt like a fantastic opportunity not only to evoke the experience of crafting beautiful memories with friends and family in a Wallacea property but also to showcase the incredible architecture, interior design, and intricate details that make it truly special.

Approach -

Drawing upon my experience as a moving image director, I approach photographing people in a similar manner, striving to capture authentic moments that don't appear overly staged or forced. My aim is to generate a genuine atmosphere on the set, filled with joy and laughter, lending our images an authentic and sincere quality. I achieve this by creating authentic scenarios, whether it involves grandparents playing with their grandchildren or friends sharing a meal. They should genuinely enjoy their time, engage in conversation, make friends, and share genuine laughter. This approach results in authentic imagery.

I aim to minimise the use of artificial lighting, preferring to work with natural light whenever possible. To have greater control over our lighting conditions on the day, my trusted and expert team of lighting assistants can recreate various natural lighting effects, enhancing the light without giving it a clinical appearance. My goal is to create warm and inviting tones that draw the viewer into the image.

I will employ fast prime lenses and a high-end medium format digital camera to create a sense of being present in the scenes. Utilising a shallow depth of field will yield a beautiful and timeless aesthetic, enabling us to focus on our subjects while producing visually pleasing backgrounds that complement accompanying text effectively. Additionally, we have the option to choose our film stock if necessary. Alongside my technical assistants, we have meticulously colour-balanced numerous classic film stocks by customising looks and matching colours using graphs and grain to closely emulate film as closely as possible. This can evoke a warm sense of nostalgia."
